# Schedule

### Overview

The Schedule trigger purpose is to [schedule](https://cxfabric.gitbook.io/docs/build/schedules) a one-time or recurring future execution of a flow, i.e., to automate the flow execution based on a calendar, use a schedule trigger.

Schedule triggers are CXF resources that live outside flows and therefore a schedule trigger can be associated with multiple flows.
